I wouldn't say the plot was special, actually it was pretty basic and predictable, but it was written and narrated in a way that made it feel fresh and lively. There were some sections where I expected to be bored, simply because it was a familiar story beat that usually would be boring, but stayed engrossed anyway. I think the only downside I have is that the ending felt a bit abrupt.

In Scarlett&Browne hat er seiner Fantasie freien Lauf gelassen und viele Elemente aus diesem Genre aufgegriffen. Die zwei Hauptfiguren sind so unterschiedlich. Es dauert einige Zeit, um die zwei ins Herz zu schließen. Ihre Abenteuer führen sie durch gefährliche Wälder, Städte, die scheinbar Schutz bieten, deren Bewohner aber oft finstere Gedanken hegen. Vor allem als klar wird, dass Arthur einiges zu verbergen hat. Now, I can assume the answers to these questions. And since we don't get answers, assumption is all we've got. I can assume, but I might be wrong. I can assume that the Tainted are zombies, possibly caused by exposure to radiation. I can assume that they might be the people with deformities of some kind that were banished from the towns and cast out into the wilds. I can assume the world was destroyed by nukes. About the only thing original here for me was that this was set in England instead of the usual USA. But I wish we had seen more of a British version of a dystopian society because of that setting: in all honesty, except for travelling the Thames, I felt like this could have taken place anywhere. It felt like so much could have been done to really make this funny by exploring the quirkier aspects of British culture and society - and how they would have been affected by an apocalypse. Sadly, that wasn't the case. The characters are both likeable, they bounced off one another. Scarlett quite mouthy and opinionated whilst trying to find a way to survive in the harsh world. Browne having not seen the real outside world before was like a cat in the headlights, mesmerised and overwhelmed by everything and he needed Scarlett’s help. He was also keeping a few big secrets about why he is wanted.
