About this deal

Davis Murphy is a very successful businessman and one of Dallas’s most eligible bachelors. He dreams of someday owning a ranch and of being a rodeo cowboy. The story also has several interesting subplots which I think I enjoyed more than the main story revolving around Sam's friends. They did mean the book was quite a long one for what it is bout I did find them really interesting. I particularly enjoyed Claudia's story and would have happily read a book just about her. Davis could choose any woman he desired. Why her? I laughed at the references where Charlie was his mother's typie and Davis was proposing to her brothers. It seemed so true.

Rian Johnson: (laughs) No, total coincidence. We cast Ron first and then Rhea and then realized it.

That’s the art of the con,” Robson said. “All you end up thinking about is this individual and how you want to please them. So they’ve certainly got this control over you.” He needs to convince his mother that he has found the love of his life and will soon be settling down and getting married.

Reaching out to Robson to confirm his identity, Robson’s investigation would see her launch herself into a seven year investigation spanning several continents. The finale really wants you to remember that its title is called “The Hook.” You have someone watching the Robin Williams–Dustin Hoffman movie Hook and Bratt’s Cliff recites the Blues Traveler song “Hook.” Was that all in the script? Aside from a couple episodes, there’s really no ambiguity as to whether the victim, or almost victim, deserves to die. Usually, they’re pretty decent people and the answer is no. Was that a conscious choice? Will that be changing with the second season? Easy said than done when it comes to matters of the heart, but a listen to the Chasing Charlie podcast will be enough for you to be extra cautious with your heart and your money, of that Robson is sure.

Johnson: He had to learn it, poor guy. The way that Janicza shot that, I looked at that did the daily and I was just like, “Oh my god, this is the favorite thing I’ve ever been involved with.” It was during this time in Australia where he met Robson’s client Vivian and other females such as Emma* and Rachel*. All of these women share similar stories of Gill using an alias and promising them the world through false lies and hope. Vivian had some information but he had told her so many lies, like that he was the son of a famous New Zealand family. It was easy to verify that this was not correct. Then I did some surveillance on him and through the information he had given to a hire car company, discovered his name. "She was in her fifties and after her marriage ended, she wanted new experiences."

Lyonne: I always think it’s useful to have a personal life experience to draw on, because I would say, on a personal basis, I’ve been in quite a few high-stakes situations. It’s almost like what you’re trying to do is not show the world that you’re in a state, rather than telegraph to every gas station you go to like, “Hey, man, I’m in a panic.” They look for vulnerability in their victims. That’s how con artists get away with it. They are looking for people to put their trust in them. What followed is the subject of Chasing Charlie, a new true-crime podcast produced by a female-led team at Fremantle Media and hosted by Melbourne-based private investigator, Julia Robson. As I spoke to more people, I worked out the reason why this guy has been getting away with this for so long is that he keeps the amount scammed pretty low even though obviously it’s quite a lot for the victim. Vivien stopped scrolling. This Craiglist ad was different from the others. Buried among the litany of sexual propositions, it sounded almost like a dare, a challenge: are you the ‘right’ kind of woman? Can you live up to what I need? Then, he’ll skip town, and who investigates that? It’s very hard, and so this is the perfect storm for an investigator to say ‘look, I’ll take on this, I’ll put together a file, I’ll give them a to share their story.” When Davis Murphy’s father died eight years ago, he became owner of Murphy Title by default. As the business becomes successful, Davis looks forward to pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a cowboy like his grandfather, and owning a ranch. When he discovers that his mother is holding off getting married until she is sure he has settled down, he plots to fool her by introducing a pretend fiancée for one night. After that, his mother would accept her boyfriend’s marriage proposal and leave for Tokyo, and that would be that. After just three weeks of talking, the two met for the first time at Vivien’s house. Charlie had told her that he was into BDSM and would like to integrate that into their sexual relationship. Vivien had already been experimenting in bed and agreed, but what Charlie did went way over the line.
