About this deal

The unique innovation of this product was that you could turn recycled coffee grounds into burnable briquettes. We’ve pulled together suggestions for some creative uses for coffee grounds from fertiliser to air fresheners there’s no limit to their use!

Whilst it’s best to consult your appliance guidelines to optimise the burn time, we recommend adding no more than 1-2 coffee fire logs at a time as they do kick out a lot of heat. In April 2023, Bio-Bean was forced into administration following a fire at their coffee recycling factory in Cambridgeshire. Burning 20% hotter than kiln-dried wood logs, Coffee Logs help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and avoid the heavy carbon footprint created by coal and imported wood logs.If we use coffee husks to make briquettes, the first step is crushing coffee husk, making its size less than 5mm. As the leader of briquette press manufacturer in China, the coffee briquette machine we provided is easy to operation and we also have professional after-sales team to offer technical supports for the coffee ground briquetting. For the cheapest way to build a mix of products (briquettes, bird food, compost etc), start with a Quarter or Half Pallet of your favourite briquette and add all the extras you need through our Add-ons Page. They burn hotter and for far longer than wood, which makes them perfect for heating your home and helps reduce landfill at the same time.

I was sceptical about coffee logs but read the reviews and bought some and have to admit, for us, as a family, they are a hit, they burn so well and for a lot longer than kiln dried logs, I was so impressed I bought lots more and will continue to do . We’ll chronicle their rapid rise, victory in Richard Branson’s Virgin Media Business Voom 2016, first signs of mainstream success, and the tragic event that led to their downfall. The most similar product to Coffee Logs, Sawdust Briquettes are made from 100% recycled hardwood sawdust. This crumbling, woody cylinder is a biofuel made in the UK from used coffee grounds combined with sawdust, and is a good example of a biomass briquette made from food or agricultural waste. Just ensure you have what you need to get a fire started and then use your coffee briki’s instead of wood logs. The vibrant campaign graced the UK's largest indoor advertising screen, Waterloo Motion, while also making its presence felt on social media platforms.

I found the briki’s worked perfectly for a camp fire (and as such, can see how’d they’d be great for a wood-fired pizza oven) but you do need to have the fire going well before you add them as they don’t catch alight quickly, like kindling does. Finally cut a piece of aluminium foil twice the size of the bread tin, double it over so that it fits inside the bread tin and place on top of the mixture and compress evenly. We find Coffee Logs work well as a ‘heat sink’ in the back of the fire, where they give you a very steady, consistent heat.Top ten coffee producing countries: Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Indonesia, Honduras, Ethiopia, Peru, India, Guatemala, Uganda.

They mention that it works well with good heat output, and a couple of logs last about 90 minutes before needing to be refilled. I love sharing my simple tips, honest stories, and latest discoveries, all leading to a healthy, meaningful life. The coarse nature of the used coffee grounds is an effective and safe way to remove grime from ourselves and our dishes. They contain a lot of energy, when dried and then burnt they produce more heat than traditional fuels such as wood. We are in active discussions with DEFRA to support and advance the creation of this new testing methodology. In fact, each log contains the grounds from around 20 cups of coffee, collected from businesses across the UK.
